Papers, 1880-1902, consisting of a letter book dated 1895, eight notebooks, 1880-1898, and a map of mining claims in Butte, Montana and vicinity, purchased in 1902. The letter book, with index of correspondents, deals with the genealogy of the Treadwell family. The notebooks contain sporadic diary entries about mines and mining in Arizona and in Nevada City, California, visits to family and friends, in Brooklyn and New York, and notes on tombstones in Connecticut. One notebook, dated 1895, contains a list of signatories to a petition protesting against the abolition of the State Mining Bureau in California.
